What Virtues did my Soul Earn ?

Message from the author: With the grace of Almighty Waheguru, I'm aware of the fact that no enlightened soul would like to take birth again. But, I believe taking birth and dying is all about the Will of Waheguru and this poem is a prayer to the Lord that if he wants me to take birth again, I would love to do so as a Sikh of my Guru every time.

ਕੀ ਪੁੰਨ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੂਹ ਨੇ, "What virtues did my soul earn?" ਸੱਚੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਜ਼ਰਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਪਾਵੀਂ। Shed some light, O my Patishah, The embodiment of Truth. ਹਰ ਜਨਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਬਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ, Let every birth have the honour of being ਦਸ਼ਮੇਸ਼ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਣਾਵੀਂ। The Singh of my Dasmesh Guru. ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੰਥ ਲਈ, For the Panth, my Guru smilingly ਸਰਬੰਸ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਸਕੇ ਵਾਰਤਾ। Endured sacrifice of His entire family. ਮਰ ਜਾਣੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਇਕੋ ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ,   In this life thus He imbued me ਅਣਖ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਊਣ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ ਸਿਖਾ'ਤਾ। To live my Life with Righteousness. ਛਕਾਕੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ, Sweet Ambrosial  nectar was showered upon me ਕਾਫਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਇਕ ਸੰਤ-ਸਿਪਾਹੀ। That transformed me  from a skeptic to "Sant-Sipahi" ਦੇਣੀਆਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮੋੜਾਂ, How then can I repay your Blessings? ਇਹ ਸੋਚ-ਸੋਚ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੂਹ ਕਮਲਾਈ। The thought alone pains my Soul. ਸਿਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਣੀਂ ਭੇਂਟ ਕਰਕੇ, Laying my head at your Lotus Feet ਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਮੈਂ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਸਾਰੀ। I abandoned all my anxiety. ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਬਖਸ਼ੀ, My Guru ever blesses me and all ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਗ'ਤੇ ਸਰਦਾਰੀ। His Singhs in this world with Royalty. ਆਖੇ ਹਰਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖੀ, Says Harman: Guru's Sikhi ਪੂਰੇ ਜਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਆਰੀ।   Is unique in this world. ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡਕੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਜਾਵਾਂ, Where else could I wander after leaving it? ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੋਈ ਖੁਮਾਰੀ। I am enchanted with His Sikhi. ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਕੇ, The Bliss of the Tranquil state ਬੀਰ ਰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੜਥੂ ਪਾਇਆ। And the exaltation of Warfare, ਆਖਣ ਵੈਰੀ ਡਰਦੇ ਕੰਭਦੇ, Led many a meek and fearful one to say ਉਹ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜਾਇਆ। That Sikh is borne up by his Guru. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ, O Waheguru !
